Irish Weather - Elemental Forces At Work

Let’s talk about this weather!

Here we are in the 5th or 6th week of some wild winter weather like we’ve never seen before in living memory….or perhaps it’s that fabled winter of discontent, or the long night of the soul?

So, this is where we find ourselves, at the mercy of the weather, that great ‘starter of conversations’ the world over and something we have learned to moan about, at least in these northern regions where rain, hail, sleet and wind bring down our moods as the wet stuff hits the ground.

But, when we really stop and ponder these deeper aspects of what this might achieve for those of us living here, well, that is something else entirely. Perhaps it’s even akin to a little bit of wonderful.

I know, you are already thinking, there has been nothing wonderful about weeks of darkness, damaging winds, flooding and damp….unless you are safely on higher ground, have your house tethered to the earth like a ship with an anchor and have ancestral leanings towards the mallard family.

However, when I go to sleep at night with the rain pelting, thrumming and roaring on the roof, the wind buffeting the windows, well okay, the windows bowing in and flexing and then wake up the next morning not to a refreshed earth with the sun streaming down after the storm….

No! This winter we’ve been waking up to the exact same clamour, clatter and deafening noise of the elements let loose on the earth as when we went to bed, if anything, it might have only ramped up during the hours of darkness.

So, this begs the question; what’s this all about anyway? What is the purpose of rain, wind, and an excess of churning changing massive force of nature bearing down on us for all it’s worth?

What if something was trying to get through to us? And we are too busy, fearful, asleep, worried and just plain too thick to listen….what might all of these Universal forces being pulled down around us be trying to convey?

What if they needed us to know something along the lines of the importance of our future here on this planet. What if life itself was carried in those winds, star dust and energies from far and wide arriving, implanting and once again taking up permanent residence where once before, long ago they thrived.

I mean, imagine how important this time in history must be – the earth herself is waking up and the only way she can do that is with a nudge and a shake to stir her from her slumber….

Well then, it’s a good time to be alive, isn’t it?

A Slow Summer Day and Digestion

When the sun shines, everything gets better. That about sums up how all of Ireland feels at the moment (at least where the weather is concerned!). It is great to finally get some sun, heat and a real summer.

And we are thankful for it. Now…..on to other things! LOL

This week I am back fasting actually (just a little bit) for a day or two here and there. It is the perfect weather for taking a break from food, because it is warm, sunny and easy to manage without spending time thinking about and preparing meals.

Really, now that I am thinking about it – I remember days gone by when I used to live in southern Ontario – and the heat! It was ungodly hot during some of those summers and guess what?

Digesting food was a little more difficult. It was as if my tummy slowed down or something….I just wanted to sip on water and clear fluids – but eating on those long hot days…..just left me feeling uncomfortable in myself.

Of course, there is always a place for food – but as the weather changes outside of us, it shifts and alters on the inside as well. On a hot day such as this, we all feel a little sluggish, we may move more slowly (to avoid sweating!) and feel like taking it easy.

Perhaps this is a great message from deep within the inner workings of our digestive systems (yes we are paying attention). These summer days are better suited towards refreshing fluids and little else…..thus making us feel more comfortable in the heat….

After all, digesting a meal generates more heat in an already hot body….it also uses up loads of energy to try moving food through and doesn’t help with our summer waistlines.

So….it’s back to a little fasting for me. And you know what? I feel better (and cooler) already.

Standing in the Light

Today I am fasting again and it feels right – especially with this lovely weather we have been having. It’s still not overly warm, but there is a sun in the sky and it is wonderful to feel the light all around.

It’s also great to watch how quickly the earth responds to this abundance (there’s that word!) of light. And of course, we must also be responding on the inside as well as the outside to these wonderful rays.

Not only do I always think of ‘life-giving’ when I think of the sun….these days I can actually sense my body’s internal changes when there is light. I can see how important those words were in the bible….

“Let there be light”….we really can’t live (in any sense of the word) without this light. It is more then just about the heat (which is a side bonus) for me it has come to mean growing my internal spiritual garden as well.

Perhaps we take so much of the magnificence around us for granted….just for today I am pondering this light and really appreciating all that it means for my body, mind and spirit.

One thing I do notice is how the animals around us are all so much more relaxed…perhaps because we are? Or are they busy growing and appreciating the sunshine as well?

We are all tired of the rain, but don’t often think of how the little goats also love to be out in the fields and not slipping around in the mud. The ducks and geese on the other hand love the rain…but they are in their own world! LOL

Enjoy the sun Ireland, we deserve it!

On My Way - the Doorway

Off to an early start today – after great dreams last night about the garden, herbs and making foods etc. with the garden harvest. It’s always nice to wake up feeling as if you have travelled somewhere important during the night hours…

Or am I the only one who feels that way? LOL

Actually I often have the sense of being very far away at night (and something throughout the day too!) but sometimes it just feels significant or as if there is a very deep purpose to be understood here within the context of my life.

So…I am back on planet earth this morning having ventured into the world of herbs during the night – visiting and exploring these wonderful dimensions and all things Faerie – it always feels like home.

Even though the rain pounded the roots and windows, seemingly all night long – the day is quite still and calm at the moment. And the rain has stopped even though the air is misty and wet.

It’s a real soft Irish morning here in West Cork….you can almost hear the grass grow. Perhaps a day that dreams are made of – one thing I do know for certain, my night dreams (dimension 20) are far more about my life then my waking day.

If that makes any sense, (it does to me) and I have long felt that I am in search of a door to walk through – an energetic portal – in order to shift back into my life, switching dimensions from night into day.

For some reason I even think I know when this reversal happened – and it is medication related….years ago when I was a child and given copious amounts of antibiotics for the strep throats, chest coughs and colds, I always seemed to have.

These antibiotics do far more damage then just knock the life out of us – they rob us of the life we are born to live. Bringing the gut back, repopulating our guts (I have my own methods as a Clinical Nutritionist that really work!) is the only way forward into light and life.

Have a healthy day,

April

Onwards, Towards a Distant Light....

Today has been another good day – once again I fasted all day (since yesterday evening) – which gave me the energy, time and focus to concentrate on some of my projects I have been working on. My plan each day has been to fast until I reach a break through...and it always works.

It is amazing what an empty stomach can accomplish! LOL

And I am so pleased to say my little Rebel Food Shop is up (well, nearly) and ready to go. It is something I have been doing in the background for several years now in a limited way – not really certain what way to go.

Now I am moving forward and happy to be sharing some more of my favourite family recipes, foods, remedies, healing herbs and spreading the magic where ever I can in new ways.

Check out my Rebel Food On-Line Shop on my main blog for details on some of my foods as well as how to order in Ireland…outside of Ireland – well, we can work out the details! Bear in mind it is a work in progress and more links and details will be posted shortly. In the meantime, please email, text or ring with any queries.

Because April is kind of my ‘month’ – I generally take stock of who I am, how far I’ve come and where I would like to be in my life, around this time of year. Spring sort of does that to us as well - everything else on the planet is changing so.... Wake up and shake up.

I am happy with my progress over this past year – there have been steady (even through it may appear too slow) changes around me and I am not in the same place I was in. Not even from one month ago…so much has shifted and taken root.

Over the years I have seen my entire life stripped down to nothing – leaving everything behind as we walked forward, towards a distant light, a single brightness that was often cast in shadow.

Even now, I still marvel at how a dream can keep you going, a tiny pinpoint of energy can grow a seed and how when life takes hold – it will sweep you up in it’s embrace and never let you go.
