Getting On With Living….

Today I am fasting again….however, it was nice to eat loads (read way too much!) over the Christmas holidays and equally nice to be experimenting, cooking and tasting the rich seasonal foods on offer. Life really does revolve around food and eating in this house!

But, that's all behind us now, so, getting back to today. I felt is was time to get this month started for me on yet another footing (self care is paramount) and I am doing a bit of a fast. At the moment, I am not sure how long I will fast this time around. Perhaps a week or two – or maybe longer, I like to take these things one day at a time whenever I can.

Already today I had my first little detox challenge…..I started feeling achy and sinusy as if I was coming down with a cold (like the one the kids had 2 weeks ago!). And my first thought was to just go back to bed….but alas, that isn’t really an option.

I just followed my instincts (or a very strong intuition in my case) and mixed up some of my Apple Cider Vinegar into my fermented Rebel Juice and sipped on that for the rest of the morning. By the time I realized I was feeling back to myself, the juice was gone and I had been busy with all my chores around the place.

It works so quickly!

And now here I am with quite a few things done including 2 mini workouts and still marveling that I am feeling much better – and glad I never went back to bed. The moral of the story here seems to be – to never underestimate the healing power of your body when given the right ingredients.

In this case it was my own apple cider vinegar and fermented beetroot juice – it packs a powerful anti-oxidant punch as well as provides nourishing probiotics for the gut. Because our immune system is gut mediated (if your tummy isn’t working, your immune system is compromised) all we need to do is boost ourselves from the inside with beneficial organisms….

Then they do the work for us.

When I think back to how I used to treat myself when I felt low, poorly or even completely under the weather – well, needless to say, it was a world apart from where I am today. I would often just ignore symptoms or worse, just push them down with a pain reliever and carry on.

If I have learned anything about health, healing and detox over these many years living this close to nature and in tune with my body, it’s this; when you are gentle with your body and provide natural, equally gentle means of healing, you only have to walk down this road once.

Pushing something down or aside, simply means it will pop back up to be dealt with on another day and perhaps be far worse then what you started with.  Best to face up to whateveritis that’s around us on the day and provide our body with what it needs (nutrients, herbs, probiotics, exercise, quiet time, laughter, detox) to move forward – then we can get on with living our lives.

And that’s what we are doing here, right?

Energy Aligned in One Place.....Connecting with Destiny

Today is a food day (a good day! LOL)…..and I have been thinking about the term – ‘the good life’. All along of course, I have wondered about this elusive state of being and have lived many years in hope that one day I might be able to stake a claim to some piece of that attitude myself.

Perhaps some part of me is there with the rest of my being moving steadily along the proverbial path towards having, living and enjoying life. And hopefully for the most part, it will always be good.

However, for many people life is anything but good. In fact, no matter what, how much or how little someone has around them – in terms of relationships, stress, material things and so forth….

When they are not ‘living’ on the inside, nothing is completely good or satisfying on the outside. Life is far more then what you might be able to make of it….life involves taking steps to ensure you remain alive and conscious.

So many of us walk through each day thinking (or not) that this is all there is. And they are right – if you think that way, you will see things that way and ultimately be that way.

It’s a narrow unfulfilled dull existence. But, that’s just my opinion. After all, I was one of those people who would think that there has to be far more to living and life then just getting up and going to work for someone else each day.

There had to be something more to life…..

I knew in my heart that there was something better, a higher road (even if more difficult) and if I took every step possible I just might be able to find that path. What I have found out about this road back to life is that it is real, it does exist and it is worth making the effort to connect with it.

This good life is not entirely about things, people, or even having a special purpose….so far it appears to be all about having enough of yourself awake, present and alive – energy aligned in the one place and connecting with destiny.

Life is a path....

It's Called Living....

Today is the last of our feast days for February and the Imbolc celebrations...here and gone so fast. Time seems to be moving so swiftly right now it's hard to catch up with it. However, it's all good because things are also shifting and moving along with it.

This week and this cleanse seems to have brought up a load of old negative patterns for me - and I am glad. Because this is precisely the stuff I have been trying to get at for so very long. I think I have been picking away at it - but this time around, a chunk seems to have broken loose and is now moving.

I am right where I need to be.

That is always a guarantee when you are following your path, listening to your heart and working hard at being present to the things that matter. Of course the more you do this, the more you will find out that very little matters...

In fact, there are only about 1 or 2 things left on the long list of items that were once so very important...for me the first one is my little family and then our health. After that? Well, perhaps it's our garden, animals and how each of those other things on our list can support our family and health.

I have found over the years that as my health improves so does every other aspect of my life. My mind is clearer, my heart is louder, my body is stronger, my relationships with my children are healthy. Good health spills over into every single area of my existence.

It can't help but do that because when I focus on the one area - my body, then I am also working on my mind. Yet, when I carefully feed my mind with positive and healthy thoughts (from wonderful food and water) my spirit comes alive with the reconnection from a living earth.

There is a continuum of life and it all starts with making a simple decision - I want to be here, to be healthy and to know and trust my body. It's called living.
